Biomass Boilers Hereford

BIOMASS BOILERS HEREFORDSHIRE

Biomass boilers are a speciality of Tipsgrove. Biomass boilers use wood as a fuel to heat water. Wood pellets, wood chips, and logs are the most common ways that you can buy fuel, and there are a vast array of boilers to suit almost any situation. Biomass boilers work to 80-85 degrees and can produce heat for poorly insulated buildings, large buildings, homes, process heating, or farming solutions.

Biomass boilers installation in Herefordshire is an environmentally friendly option. Herefordshire being a rural area, also has local forests, forestry contractors, and chip suppliers. This ensures that the wood is not transported any more than a few miles.

Wood Pellet boilers for Domestic properties

Wood pellet boilers are larger than most gas and oil boilers. Customers will need to consider the best place to locate them within their homes. Wood pellet boilers work with radiators, underfloor, and can work with some “wet” fan heaters. Using accredited boilers and installers you can claim the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive. This may pay for the costs of installation. Heating with wood pellets is generally much cheaper than LPG, cheaper than oil, but probably more expensive than gas. For more details on the figures, please see.

Customers who want to put a boiler in a kitchen, dining room or living room can use a decorative room heater that also heats radiators. These are often Italian in design and there are many different designs to consider. The boiler above has a hopper on the side of the boiler holding the wood pellets. This boiler also does not need a vent, although most do.

Other decorative boilers have hoppers in the top. This gives a different dimension, and again gives more flexibility.

Alternatively it is possible to get wood pellet boilers that can go in utility rooms and this could be like the one below.

Renewable Heat Incentive

The above 2 boilers are cost effective and work within the confines of the Renewable Heat Incentive. It is true that Austrian and German boilers have an excellent reliability reputation. We also have experience of fitting more expensive boilers. This is perhaps more suitable in a commercial situation, and perhaps when the boiler is going to be used for longer than the heating season of 1300 hours e.g. 3000 hours up to 8000 hours. The Renewable Heat Incentive pays homeowners for installing a biomass boiler. The current rate will pay up to £11,445 over 7 years for a biomass boiler. For more information please see our page on the latest updates.

Storing biomass fuel

Wood pellets boilers can be automated, this means that with a suitable hopper it is possible to leave the boiler alone other than for cleaning. This is often the most suitable choice for most families. These hoppers can be of various designs. Some for internal and for external use. The below hopper is an example of a large external hopper on a larger property.

The advantages of external hoppers are that you can get a delivery from a tanker that fills the hopper up for you. Larger hoppers mean that the tanker makes less stops, so you get a discount. This could be £30 per tonne and is worth considering for larger properties.

Customers with available space also use internal hoppers. These are quicker to install, and therefore the cost can be less. Typically these are made of canvas and held together by a steel frame.

Gasification boilers for domestic properties

Customers who have their own wood often ask about log boilers. If you want to claim the Renewable Heat Incentive then the boiler needs to be accredited. This in turn means that you need

As boilers get larger chip is more common, and there has been a recent trend to look for factory waste, alternative fuels such as crops and recycled wood (which is cheaper) as fuel. These boilers are subject to a harsher burning environment, and need to have some protection in their burn chambers such as porcelain or concrete. In addition additions may need to be made to the flue systems to reduce emissions to within acceptable standards.

Tipsgrove has extensive experience in managing engineering projects from homes, to small organisations to factories. Due to our experience of a number of different types of boiler, we can help you decide which one would benefit you most rather than sell you a single solution.

Heat can be from a number of different types of technology. Our 30 years experience of civil engineering means that we are very comfortable digging! This suits planning heat networks, ground source heat pump loops, or simply linking different buildings with pipework.

Our interest is in using existing resources within a business. Often this helps choose a heat technology such as biomass, or even whether it is a particular sort of fuel that you may have access to. Equally it may be that your ground or your processes may be able to benefit from a heat pump. Our surveys are not just questions on a tablet, but we really investigate and find out the best solution for you.

For instance:

We have been able to turn pharmaceutical waste into fuel using a specialist boiler. This was done through using a specialist boiler and testing the fuel. The benefit is that this reduces fuel costs to below 1p per kW.
